The Visual Display of Qualitative Information

Many are familiar with the Charles Joseph Minard's 1869 graphic displaying Napoleon's 1812 march on Moscow and the associated troop losses, made famous by Edward Tufte in his book The Visual Display of Quantitative Information.

Poster sized versions are available for purchase from Tufte's website: https://www.edwardtufte.com/tufte/posters.
Not nearly as famous is this graphic capturing the changing sentiment (qualitative information) in Parisian newspapers during Napoleon's 1821 travels from Elba to Paris (h/t Miguel Faria e Castro).

Recounted by Alexandre Dumas in 1841; Credit to Frank Jacobs and Carrie Osgood.
